Masaluta - Heita Da!

A 97’ CD release on the favorite Kwaito label Phat Kat by Masaluta!

Launched by Static P and DJ Christos in Johannesburg in 1994, Phat Kat quickly one of the solidifying labels that helped kick off the newly changing sound of Kwaito. Pulling away from the import house covers and dubbed out interpertations that dominanted the genre’s earlier part of the decade, Phat Kat were pioneer in adoptiing the ‘group rap’ and hip-hop sound which would later become the dominant style bringing Kwaito commercial success.

Unlike the tape there are 13 tracks on the CD release, and if you’re into this sound then you will enjoy the whole album. I included my favorite track titled ‘Heita Da! (Busta Mix)’.

*Clean and loud recording
